First Sugar Cookie Class

This past weekend, Salt & Light held their first iced sugar cookie decorating class at Hon's Honey Marketplace. Participants learned the difference between pipe, flood, and stiff consistency icings, then used their new skills to decorate 4 fall-inspired cookies!

I think the latte art cookie was everyone's favorite!

Following this class and looking forward to the holidays, I'm reminded of the many times I decorated sugar cookies with my nana for Christmas and Easter. All the cousins would gather around her huge kitchen island and use food dye and egg yolk to paint our cookies before popping them in the oven to bake. Christmas cookies were festive shapes covered in crunchy sprinkles or rolled in powdered sugar. I'm happy to have relived this in a new way at my cookie class! I'm even more pleased that some girls in the class found a new love for decorating cookies! I think I can guess what might be under the tree for them this year!

Dye-Free rainbow sprinkles

Black Dutch Processed Cocoa for intense-chocolatey brownies or naturally dyed black icing!

The most vibrant natural blue color- and it changes to purple when adding baking soda!
